Title:  1943 USMC PARRIS ISLAND BOOT CAMP PHOTO, ARMED MARINES IN JACKETS
Description: Great 1943 boot camp photo of Platoon 706 at Parris Island, South Carolina. Men are in field coats, gloves and hold M-1 rifles!  You don't see many WW2 photos of the Marines armed in boot camp.  A lot of these Marines probably caught the Marianas Campaign, Peleliu, Iwo Jima or Okinawa.  These are the faces of a generation that saved the world and are all but gone now.

Title:  1942 USMC PHOTO OF THE FITA FITA SAMOAN NATIVE GUARD, PAGO PAGO, TUTUILA
Description: Neat and rarely seen original photo of the Native Samoan Naval Fita Fita Guards, wearing the traditional Lava-Lava wrap around their waists under a USMC NCO.  Fita Fita is the traditional Samoan word for "Soldier".  Marked on the back "Edward R. Jagielski 2858 So. 7th St Milwaukee, Wisconsin".  Jagielski was stationed in Samoa with MAG-13 at Tutuila, Samoa in 1942.  Samoan islands were needed to keep supplies heading to the west. He served the duration of WW2, being discharged a Staff Sergeant.  The Native Samoans and their islands fell under US territory and were used as local guards, anti-aircraft gunners, lookouts and to conduct patrols of Samoan Islands.  They were trained by Marines and a proud part of Samoan warrior culture.
